Most thermostats are powered by AA batteries. So you should change those first and see if that fixes the problem. Every thermostat is different, so we’re afraid we can’t tell you exactly how to open up your thermostat, replace the batteries and reset the thermostat.

Some thermostats don’t have batteries and are powered by the HVAC system (AC + furnace) instead. That means that if the HVAC system has no power, neither will the thermostat, which is why it has gone blank.
